The Fragonard Exhibition will
introduce you to hundreds of works by Jean-Honoré
Fragonard, the French painter who was active in the
18th century’s Rococo period. Since it has been
almost exactly 200 years since Fragonard left this
world (he died in 1806), this large-scale exhibition
has been loaded with homage to this artist, one of
the greatest of the 18th century. The Rococo
paintings, so full of luxury and pleasure, can be
judged according to their connection to the changes
that came about during the time of the French
Revolution. By taking another look at these precious
works now, we can also get a real feeling for the
atmosphere of the elegant France at the time..
