| Les Cocottes just opened in June of
2007. It is the latest shop from Chef Christian Constant,
who has four restaurants along rue Saint Dominique, such as
Le Violon d'Ingres right next door. Much like the Japanese
“Onabe” restaurants, the main dish served here is "staub”,
which is cooked in a pot, similar to a stew. Staub may not
be as popular or well known as “le creuset” in Japan, but in
France it is loved by chefs and amateur cooks looking for
the real deal. Pig’s feet stuffed with potatoes and cooked
in calf’s cream, sausages, and haddock roast garnished with
white beans may not sound upper-class, but they are really
good food. The flavor of the chocolate cake and crumble
served for dessert is a clear winner, so you can eat them
with absolute peace of mind. The long interior of the
restaurant is by no means spacious, but the refreshingly
modern design and the bright sunlight shining in through the
ceiling window have made it into a really comfortable space.
All the seating is on tall stools placed at the counter.
Since they’re open non-stop from morning to night it’s a
great place whenever you want to eat some quick and
delicious food, even when you’re eating alone.(2008-01-13)
