| Gustave Moreau, the 19th century symbolist painter, established this museum. The visit starts on the first floor in the intimacy, the apartment where Moreau lived with his parents. Not only his works but also his personal art collections are displayed. Gustave Moreau’s masterpieces are mostly displayed in the workshop on the second and the third floor. His paintings, often based on Greek mythology or the Bible, can be difficult to understand, but this fantastic world will soon fascinate you.
Principal works: ‘the Pretenders’, ‘The life of Humanity’, ‘the Apparition’, ‘Jupiter and
Sémélé’…etc.
