Hotel Sully Saint Germain is a chic, elegant, petit hotel situated near the end of the Quartier Latin (Latin Quarter) close to Boulevard Saint Germain and Sorbonne University. The interior design will make you think of the Middle Ages in Paris, and is surely the kind of thing you’ll only come across in France.
The street the hotel is located on, Rue des Ecoles, is sometimes called University Street and as you would expect from the nickname it is popular with students. Because of this, there are a lot of inexpensive and easy take-out shops and restaurants to be found here.
Less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel you’ll be able to see the Pantheon, where many great men are entombed. And at Jussieu Campus, near the Metro station there, you’ll find a store that sells some really cute stationary. On Rue Monge there are two of the Eric Kayser shops that are so popular even in Japan. This is all within a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
Running parallel to Rue des Ecoles is the famous Boulevard Saint Germain. This is a constantly lively spot that has a great many shops one after another. In between these two streets is the Maubert Mutualite Plaza, which is known to hold open-air markets in the mornings. There are popular cheese shops, wine shops, bakeries, and food stands side by side, making it a lively place. It’s an area where you can fully enjoy the Parisian atmosphere.
If you cross Saint Germain Boulevard and head further north there's Notre Dame and the Musée d'Orsay, then after crossing the Seine is the Mallet district where many creators have stores. From there, while viewing the shops along Rue de Rivoli, you’ll be headed towards the Louvre and then the area around the Opera House where many department stores can be found. This makes for a perfect walking tour.
